Week 4: 5E Modeling Activity
This week, I learned about the 5E model of science instruction. I had never heard of this before, so I found the activity we did this week to be very informative and helpful. There are 5 different teaching phases included in this model: engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. This kind of model is used all over, and it is inquiry-based instruction.
I could not relate what I learned this week to any prior knowledge because I had never heard of the 5E model before. Growing up, I always thought learning science was hard. I feel that if I learned with this kind of model, I would have enjoyed it more and retained more information.
I am glad that I learned about this model because I think it can be very helpful and beneficial when teaching science to my future students. I think learning about this 5E model now was helpful because when we have to create a lesson plan in the future, this will be a good model to try and implement.
I like how the 5E model is set up because it is very easy to understand, and I think it would be pretty easy to implement in the classroom. I was never confused once about the difference between each phase. The definitions were easy to digest, and I caught on to the concepts quickly.
Here, I have included the link to the assignment that we completed this week:
Hi Kendra!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading through your response this week. I also had never heard of this before, so I found the activity we did this week to be very informative and helpful. It was also hard for me to relate to prior knowledge because I had never engaged in the 5E model before. I will be using it in my future classroom.
Hi Kendra! I also found this activity very informational as I too have not heard of it until now. I agree with you on how this model growing up would have made science more enjoyable and retainable. I think because it ensures that all students get the knowledge and are able to apply it creatively.
ReplyDeleteHi Kendra! I enjoyed reading your post this week and hearing your thoughts on the 5E model of science instruction. Similar to you, I had not heard of this before, so I found this activity to be very informative and helpful. I also was not able to connect this information to my prior knowledge and do not think this was used when I was in school. Although, I think my classmates and I would have benefitted from such instruction. Therefore, I will be using it in my future classrooms because, like you said, it is easy to understand and implement, and would enhance our students' learning experiences significantly. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Kendra! I also agree that the format of these lessons are easy to follow and therefore would be beneficial for teaching. I really like how you talked about your future classroom.
